Claud of Tryon, has the important role of the bratty nephew. Raymond, in this weeks production of the world famous comedy “George Wash ington Slept Here," playing July 1 through 5. at Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theatre of North Carolina. Mrs. Claud assures us that the role is not “type casting” and that 10-year-old son John is really a very nice young man. However, he does such an excellent acting job as a brat, which the role calls for. that he fools the audience. Flat Rock state director. J Rixon Hammond has directed John before, when he guest-di rected “The Lion Who Wouldn’t at the Tryon Elementary School last winter, which marked John's stage debut. However, so far he is not too serious about a stage career, and much prefers to play baseball with the Little League team. He is now in sixth grade. The Claud family moved to Tryon from Charlotte two years ago. “George Washington Slept Here" plays evenings at 8:30 Tuesday through Saturday, with the customery two matinees on Wednesday and Saturday, July 2 and 5 at 2:30.
